Steven Mignogna, Anthony La Ratta, and Donald Craig Presented at the Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey Annual Conference

Steven K. Mignogna, Anthony R. La Ratta, and Donald P. Craig presented at the Annual Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey (COANJ) Conference.

The annual COANJ conference took place at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, NJ, September 29–October 2, 2015. On September 30, 2015, Mr. La Ratta and Mr. Craig presented “Developments in Elder Law.” The presentation was a review of probate opinions handed down over the past year.  The speakers discussed 25 cases and their impact on the Surrogate’s Court and probate practice.  The differences in the way in which such matters proceed in New Jersey’s twenty-one counties were also discussed.

Mr. Mignogna presented “The 7 Deadly Sins of Will Construction” on October 1, 2015. As estate and trust litigation intensifies around the country, a wave of novel claims has been evolving.  Most trust and estate professionals need to be educated about these claims, yet may not know of them at all.  This presentation surveyed the seven most significant causes of action, with a focus on New Jersey law.

Mr. Mignogna focuses his practice on commercial litigation, with a concentration on probate matters, estates, fiduciaries, guardianships and real estate.  He has lectured and published extensively both locally and nationally. Mr. Mignogna is principal author of the treatise, Estate and Trust Litigation, and editor and contributing author of The New Jersey Estate Planning Manual and The New Jersey Probate Procedures Book, all published by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education.

Mr. La Ratta concentrates his practice in the area of Trust & Estate litigation, with an emphasis in litigation involving probate matters, estates, trusts, guardianships, and fiduciaries.

Mr. Craig concentrates his practice in the area of estate litigation, including will contests, disputes between fiduciaries and beneficiaries, guardianship matters and accountings.
